Durbanville Horse Racing Tips

Durbanville Racecourse is one of only two racecourses in the Western Cape and is situated in Cape Town’s suburb of Durbanville between several nature reserves and wine estates. Punters love the experience when visiting the relaxed environment.

This left-handed racecourse with a circumference of about 2200m has a run-in of about 600m but no straight course. The perfect drainage makes this venue ideal for winter races; hence the programmes being planned accordingly.
The home straight lies on a direct downward slope until just before the horses get to the finish-line. The track’s reputation regarding the ability to race handy is important over most track distances as it can lead to the pacemakers going much too fast from the all clear signal. Horses who race too fast when leaving the starter box need to be able to accelerate at the right spot in order to give their best effort on the Durbanville course.
