Durbanville Racecourse is one of only two racecourses in the Western Cape and is situated in Cape Town’s suburb of Durbanville between several nature reserves and wine estates. Punters love the experience when visiting the relaxed environment.
This left-handed racecourse with a circumference of about 2200m has a run-in of about 600m but no straight course. The perfect drainage makes this venue ideal for winter races; hence the programmes being planned accordingly.
The home straight lies on a direct downward slope until just before the horses get to the finish-line. The track’s reputation regarding the ability to race handy is important over most track distances as it can lead to the pacemakers going much too fast from the all clear signal. Horses who race too fast when leaving the starter box need to be able to accelerate at the right spot in order to give their best effort on the Durbanville course.
We use a number of variables to build our racing predictions. These include the lifetime in the money, number of runs till date, money earned per race etc. Overall there are about 15 variables we use to make these tips.
Spending time at the races in Durbanville is an excellent form of relaxation amid the lush greenery that Cape Town is famous for. Situated right next to the beautiful Durbanville Nature Reserve, which consists of a 6-hectare piece of preserved land that is host to just under 130 species of plants is an added bonus. The reserve also sports 3 species of plants that can only be found in Cape Town. Ten plants on the Durbanville Nature reserve are on the endangered plant list.
Entry into the general public areas of the course is free.
Aside from horseracing events like the Kuda Matchem Stakes and the Diana Stakes, Durbanville Racecourse is also available for private functions such as weddings and conferences. The main function venue seats up to 120 guests and has a braai area, a fully stocked bar and kitchen facilities.
There is also a lovely horse track in Borrowdale where you can even wager on horse races.
